Bureau County Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes information handled when someone visits Bureau County Released Inmates, uses a partner search tool, or sends a message. The site is privately operated and links to Bureau County, Illinois, and federal record sources, each of which applies its own privacy rules. The sections below explain direct submissions, routine technical data, cookies, service providers, advertising, security limits, and user choices. Using the site after a posted update means the current notice applies.

Information You Submit

Search Terms

A name, location, or other term entered in a search widget is sent to the independent provider that operates the tool. This site does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy terms govern its handling.

Messages

Information sent by email or another contact channel may be retained long enough to read and answer the request. Messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Automatic Technical Data

Normal web operations may collect data about a visit, including:

  • Internet Protocol address
  • Browser name and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent
  • Referring page or site, when supplied
  • Date and time stamps

Cookies

Cookies and similar tools may help measure use and remember basic preferences. Browser controls can block or remove them. Some site or partner features may then work differently.

How Data Is Used

Collected information may be used to:

  • Operate and improve site performance
  • Send a search request to the selected partner
  • Understand which Bureau County record pages help visitors
  • Diagnose errors, abuse, or security issues
  • Display advertising that may reflect inferred interests

Other Websites and Advertising

Links may lead to the Bureau County Sheriff, Illinois Courts, IDOC, VINE, federal locators, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves, the destination’s privacy notice controls its collection and use. Illinois FOIA, 5 ILCS 140, governs access to public records; it does not replace a website operator’s privacy policy.

Advertising providers may use their own technologies to measure activity across websites and tailor ads. That tracking occurs through their systems and rules, not as a Bureau County government function.

Who May Receive Data

Personal information is not sold by this site. Limited data may be handled by:

  • Search partners that process submitted queries
  • Analytics providers that measure visits
  • Advertising networks that deliver and assess ads
  • Law enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order

Security Has Limits

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used. No internet-connected service can promise absolute security, uninterrupted protection, or a breach-proof system. Avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for the request.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted data may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and the ability to verify a request, a person may ask to:

  • Receive a copy of personal data held by this site
  • Correct inaccurate submitted information
  • Delete eligible personal data
  • Opt out of certain processing where that choice is available

These rights concern data held by this site. A Bureau County, IDOC, court, VINE, or partner record must be addressed through that record keeper’s process.

Changes to This Notice

This notice may be revised as practices, providers, or legal requirements change. A revised version takes effect when it is posted here with its new effective date.
